Your Child’s First Visit
Did your child just get their first tooth? Looking for a pediatric dentist? We recommend that children see a kids’ dentist as soon as possible after their first tooth erupts or by their first birthday. Why so early? Once teeth begin to erupt in your child’s mouth, the risk of decay and cavities begins. By starting early, we can help ensure your child has optimal oral health for life. This visit will be the beginning of your child’s dental history, and we will monitor their teeth, gums, and oral health as they grow.
What to Expect
At your child’s first dental appointment, we will thoroughly examine their teeth, gums, and jaw to make sure everything is developing how it should. We will also check for any injuries, cavities or signs of decay. Once the examination is finished, we will clean your child’s teeth.
Your child’s first pediatric dentistry appointment is just as important for you as your child; we will go over tips to ensure your child has optimal oral health, discuss any habits to avoid and answer any questions you may have.
How to Prepare
Want to make sure your child has the best dental experience possible? So do we! Be sure to talk to your child about the dentist, what is going to happen and why the dentist is important. Practice opening your mouth and looking at the teeth and gums. Videos and books about dentistry and dental treatments can also be a way to make your child feel more comfortable about visiting the pediatric dentist.
